Google likes your pages to be fast to load. Makes sense – if you’re staring at a blank screen waiting for a page then you’re more likely to give up and look elsewhere (and grumble about Google showing you a rubbish link!). Time for Google’s PageSpeed Insights.
You can test any page on your site to see how fast it loads both on a desktop and mobile platform, and also see a list of improvements you can make. Most of which will make no sense! But, a fair amount of research, trial, error, more trial, later and all my pages are loading at top speed: 99 out of 100. In fact, the only thing stopping me getting the full 100 are Google’s own scripts which I need on the page and can’t, as far as I can see, be sensibly improved.
As an aside note I am already thinking that my blogging efforts are actually just going to make Google think we are running an SEO site (there, I’ve said it, I’ll try not to say it any more!). Probably need to be using more words like large country house with fabulous indoor heated swimming pool and hot tub, set in lovely grounds on the North Devon coast. Oh look, I just did!

You never know, maybe someone looking for SEO might also be looking for a large country house with fabulous indoor heated swimming pool and hot tub, set in lovely grounds on the North Devon coast to stay at for a few nights aswell!

Indeed, you never know. It’s good to see I’m not the only optimist in the room!
And full marks for an excellent use of the comment section for a completely off the cuff informative and original remark. It made me realise though, that someone might also be looking for a luxury stag party house or hen party house, with an indoor pool, hot tub and many other fantastic facilities.
It also made me wonder just how much egg we can put in this particular pudding.
